Hundreds of Fake Refugees Removed From Border Crossing

Here is a little bit of good news, for a change. After nearly a year, the fake refugees have finally been evicted from their encampment at the “El Chaparral” border crossing in Tijuana. The filthy encampment was completely blocking pedestrian crossings on the west side of the border crossing. It had severely hurt businesses and street vendors on both sides of the border and put local residents in Mexico in fear of crime and violence. At its height, the encampment was home to well over a thousand, would-be asylum fraudsters, as well as accompanying criminals, drug users and local homeless persons. There was a significant threat that they would decide to rush the nearby vehicle border crossing.

When asked how long the camp was expected to be there, one local businessman said, they get everything they need free here, why would they want to move? Some prefer a camp like this rather than a formal shelter, because they can drink and use drugs in the camp and it’s better for the sex and drug dealing. One resident said that they are very powerful people, meaning probably that that they have very powerful backers, the organized crime groups that smuggled them them to Tijuana.

Progressive nonprofits, social justice churches and UN agencies are paying to keep these mostly illegitimate refugees on our border, waiting to cross. In spite of that, the size of this particular encampment has been on the decline in recent weeks.

Last time I visited several weeks ago, there were many children and few adults. It seems likely that some of the children had been abandoned there by those, who exploit and abuse small children as a free ticket into the US to live illegally.

The Carmen Serdan federal shelter, mentioned as the new destination of many, was built to house those sent back under the Return-to-Mexico program. However, it is not clear that a significant number of people are being returned under that program after a court ordered it to re-start a few months ago. Biden created large loopholes in his new implementation of the Return-to-Mexico program.
