Alvarez, 22, is arrested and booked with felony interference with a police investigation. This occurred on June 27, 2019. He is the commander of the San Diego Unit of the Brown Berets de Aztlan, a kind of Chicano paramilitary group. The national commander of the Brown Berets, David Rico, is a convicted domestic terrorist and Alvarez is a young guy, trying to earn his wings, so to speak, by confronting the cops.
Aztlan is the Southwestern United States. Militant Chicanos claim that the land is their national homeland and that it was stolen from Mexico. They openly say their goal is to takeover the Southwest. Chicano Park was occupied by Chicano ultra nationalists in 1970. They say that it is the first part of Aztlan to be conquered, while San Diego, state and national governments continues to pay for the park with our tax money.
The police are there in force, because the militants in Barrio Logan and the surrounding area are very aggressive and hostile to police. Chicano Park is a no-go zone for police, as well as for pro-American critics.
One policeman can be seen hitting Alvarez. Alvarez has his hands underneath him and is not allowing them to handcuff him. This is resisting arrest and the police are allowed to use reasonable force in arresting him, including punching, until the person stops resisting and allows himself to be handcuffed.
The neighborhood around Chicano Park can easily raise a potentially violent mob in a relatively short time and the police most probably wanted to resolve the situation quickly before such a mob had time to form. You can hear the person live-streaming this video call several times for people to come to the park.
Note that he yells, “I can’t breath” like George Floyd did at about 3:30. There were complaints of police brutality and the police department did an investigation, but apparently did not find any significant fault with the arrest.
I do not believe that Alvarez was ever charged. I do not find a charge having been filed on the Superior Court website. San Diego government is dominated by progressives and liberals. From my experience, leftists and progressives tend to get off easy in such situations, while they throw the book at patriots, who do much less.
Chicano Park is promoting the political ideology of the radical Chicano Movement of the 1960s. Hatred of the Police is not a recent development or something that was started by grievances with the local San Diego police. It’s a major feature of their ideology, a mixture of Chicano racial nationalism and communism.
The two people verbally attacking the two police officers are probably Brown Berets, a kind of paramilitary group that serves as an enforcer for the militants who run the park. Chicano Park is a city park of San Diego, which the militants occupied in 1970 as the first part of Aztlan, the American Southwest, which they claim as their national homeland.
One of the four Founders of the Chicano movement, Rodolfo “Corky” Gonzales, mandated the killing of cops as a revolutionary act, not a crime. Chongo has various meanings, some say it is slang for “monkey”. It is used in the video as a slur for “police”.
The followers of Reies Tijerina, another Founder, actually shot two law enforcement officers in a raid on a courthouse in Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico. The purpose of the raid was to kidnap a district attorney, who was threatening to charge Tijerina. One of the officers was killed just before Tijerina was to be tried in court, presumably by Tijerina’s followers, so that he would not testify in the trial.
Corky Gonzales and Reies Tijerina are honored in the historical mural at Chicano Park, along with communist dictators, Fidel Castro and Che Guevara. Corky Gonzales visited Chicano Park for the annual Park Day celebration. Some of his cremation ashes are (illegally) spread around the Zapata statue in the park.
The group of Chicano militants who occupy Chicano Park resembles a cult. The police should realize, if the don’t already, that the two militants yelling a them have been indoctrinated into an ideology and will not respond to reason or kindness. They would have to be deprogrammed. Militant Chicanos teach the kids at an early age to hate law enforcement.
This criticism does not apply to all Hispanics, Latinos or Mexican Americans, in general, or even to all who Identify as “Chicanos”. It’s about a small group of Chicano extremists, who control this park.
Benjamin Prado of Union del Barrio leads a call for removal of the Columbus statue in Discovery Park in Chula Vista. A letter was sent to the City Council and the council is considering the removal of the statue, which has been repeatedly vandalized by like-minded, anti-European, anti-white extremists. They also want to formally change the Columbus Day holiday to “Indigenous Day”. To see related posts, go to this link.
Union del Barrio is a radical Chicano / La Raza organization, associated with our extremist Chicano Park in San Diego. Chicano political ideology is not well defined and different groups have somewhat different ideologies. The ideology of Union del Barrio is a hybrid, of revolutionary Marxism and mestizo-racial identity.
The historical evidence that Columbus committed atrocities, depends mainly on the writings of Bartholomew de las Casas. However, de las Casas had political reasons to exaggerate what Columbus supposedly did. He was a church leader and was trying to persuade the King of Spain to give him control over the natives in the region. As we know from, the treatment of the enslaved natives on church missions at that time, was also far from being perfectly humane.
The flag of the Union del Barrio, which flies next to Prado in the video above, has an image of an Aztec eagle warrior (wearing an eagle helmet) on a field of red. It is extremely ironic, considering Prado’s complaints, because the Aztecs practiced mass human sacrifice and ritual cannibalism, ripping the still beating hearts from their victims, while they were still alive. The Aztecs enslaved and slaughtered many times more native peoples than Columbus — probably falsely — is accused of doing. Yet, Prado flies an Aztec flag next to him with pride, while complaining vehemently that memorializing Columbus is absolutely intolerable.

The deity was the national god of the Aztecs and was credited with both the victories and defeats that his people achieved. Human sacrifices were made to appease him. Union del Barrio is virulently anti white Anglo-American. The “La Raza” mestizo racial theory, which Benjamin Prado mentions at the end of his speech is based on the mestizo racial supremacy theory of Jose Vasconcelos, who developed the “La Raza” concept in his book, “La Raza Cosmica” (1925).
Vasconcelos was a Mexican philosopher, educator and revolutionary, who was famous in all of Latin America. He is called the father of the Mexican muralist movement and also the father of the indigenous movement. However, he was the most important Nazi propagandist in Latin America, publishing the pro-Nazi magazine, El Timon (The Rudder) in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s until the Mexican Government banned the publication in 1942 a few months after the Pearl Harbor attack and declaration of war by the U.S. These racial concepts of “La Raza” developed by Jose Vasconcelos are the major source of the racial theories of the radical Chicano political movement. The Nazis tried to exploit the Nazi-like racial theories of Vasconcelos to gain influence in Latin America in the time leading up to World War II.
The term “La Raza” also has a popular usage in Mexico that may be considered low-class, but relatively innocuous. However that is not how it is being used by overtly racialist groups like Union del Barrio. Here are a couple of references for Vasconcelos and his pro-Nazism, translated from the original Spanish.
Below is a video of another racialist, anti-white event that Union del Barrio organized. You can see their eagle warrior flag on the stage. The speaker also thanks Union del Barrio (for organizing the racist event) at the end of her racial diatribe against white people. Ironically, the speaker is herself a self-hating, white person who is kowtowing to brown and black racial supremacist groups.
Union del Barrio was also one of the main organizers of this event in Chicano Park, shown in the next video. A small group of about 6-8 individuals planned to have lunch and a private viewing of the political, often anti-American and racialist murals at the park. Because they were critics of Chicano extremism, Union del Barrio and allied groups organized and incited a mob of about 500 persons to deny them access to the park under the threat of serious bodily injury. At the end of this video you see a couple of Union del Barrio organizers in red shirts with the UdB’s eagle-warrior logo directing the mob. This event was not organized a gathering of white supremacists, but simply a peaceful, ad hoc gathering of critics of the militant “La Raza” mestizo racial ideology represented in many of the murals at this park.
City Councilman, Scott Sherman, is running for Mayor of San Diego as a Republican. He voted a few months ago to provide a few million dollars at the taxpayer expense in free rent and other benefits for a new Chicano Park Museum which will be used to indoctrinate local children and visitors from far and wide in the ideas of the militant, anti-American Chicano movement. Chicano Park is probably the most anti-American public park in America.
He is an enthusiastic supporter of this radical park. Radical Chicanos claim the Southwest is their national homeland, “Aztlan”, which they are destined to control and that the Park is the first part of Aztlan to be “re-occupied”. The Park murals refer to that and they promote a Raza racial identity and also honor communist dictators and terrorists, such as Fidel Castro and Che Guevara.
Sherman is married to a woman from Sonora, Mexico, who grew up in Barrio Logan, the epicenter of Chicano militancy in San Diego. If he doesn’t support Raza and open borders it will probably impact his marital relations. I would not be surprised, if he doesn’t also have illegal in-laws, or in-laws that came here originally as illegals.
The video below shows Sherman’s gushing statement before the vote to fund the Chicano Park museum. The images that have been added to the video are photos of actual, currently-existing murals at Chicano Park. Sherman knows what Chicano Park is about, because we have been to the council meetings and emailed all of them many times about it.
Just one example of the seditious nature of the park is also presented in the video. David Rico, one of the original founders, head of the Brown Berets and long-time steering committee member is, himself, a domestic terrorist, who was convicted in the 1970’s of a plot to firebomb San Diego City College. Sherman voted to give the Chicano Park Steering Committee millions of tax dollars to fund a new museum that will be used to promote this radical, political ideology and indoctrinate young children. Rico, the unrepentant anti-American terrorist, has been a member of the Steering Committee since it was founded, several decades ago.

This video of Aztlan and La Raza flag raising at Chicano Park in San Diego is explained in terms of La Raza racial supremacy and mestizo racial theory of Jose Vasconcelos. The flags of Aztlan and La Raza are raised every year at Chicano Park in San Diego, during the Park Day celebration. Aztlan is the American Southwest, which Chicano militants claim as their national territory. They say Chicano Park is the first part of Aztlan to be taken from the USA.
The three-faced figure in the second flag symbolizes the mestizo race (La Raza), which has been created by the mixture of the white Hispanic with the Indian. “La Raza” is a racial supremacy doctrine that was formulated by Jose Vasconcelos in his book “La Raza Cosmica” (the cosmic race), published in 1925, a time when racial supremacy theories were very popular around the world.
Vasconcelos was a revolutionary, a very prominant educator and philosopher, as well as a virulent hater of the USA. He was also the most important propagandist for the Nazis in Latin America at the beginning of World War II. The Nazis exploited his mestizo racial theory to try to gain influence in Latin America via promotion of “La Raza” racialism in an attempt to gain allies to fight the USA in the war.
On top of everything, there is a bill in Congress (HR-486) to make this park an affiliate of the National Park System, so they can obtain more federal grants to spread their anti-American propaganda, hateful mestizo racial identity ideology and the idea of a hostile takeover of the Southwestern U.S. as the Chicano national homeland, Aztlan.
