Mentioned in the video, the US Consulate employee that was shot and killed in this area was working for the US Department of Agriculture collecting insect samples at the border. He was a Mexican citizen. The Consulate issued him a white government truck that looked a lot like a police vehicle. It had a flashing light bar on top. Then they sent him into known, frequent smuggling territory to collect insects for analysis. So, the smugglers thought he was some kind of undercover law enforcement agent snooping on them and they killed him.
