This slogan has been around for a long time, but is most often remembered as a bumper sticker on the Volkswagen vans of hippies in the 1960’s and 70’s and as a slogan used by Progressives and environmentalists. Just because they used it, though, does not make the concept invalid. The slogan is just a mandate to think about the big picture but act in your local area with like-minded people that you know personally.
Many wonder why the impeach-Obama effort has had a difficult time gaining traction while Obama is so blatantly anti-American. There are a number of impeach-Obama and anti-Obama Facebook groups with around 100k likes or more each. There are probably several hundred thousand intensely anti-Obama users on Facebook, mostly waiting for a national conservative “messiah” to save them, who will never come.
Only a very tiny fraction of these users, who support impeachment, have taken any real public action with others in their local area to demonstrate support for Obama’s impeachment and removal, probably about 1%. The good part is that, if people decided they wanted to stop complaining and get off their butts, a huge improvement is possible over the 1% that have actually been trying to do something in recent months. The 1% that did protest had a significant impact, but the effort fizzled too soon as a flash in the pan. A more gradual, sustained effort over the longer term is necessary.
The best that was done, so far, has been the Overpasses for Obama’s Impeachment effort last summer. However, only about 3-5k participants took part nationwide in those protests. The Overpass protests were organized mainly by state and not by local areas. These groups appear in the last few months to have become largely dormant.
To have a big impact, anti-Obama activists have to organize locally with other local citizens and be persistent in their protests over months and years. Public protests by citizens give like-minded congressmen the courage that they need to speak out. Individual groups do not have to have a protest event every day, but at a sustainable rate, maybe once a month.
There will still be issues after Obama is gone that require local groups of volunteers. Long-term local groups of volunteers are necessary. Nonprofit groups may do much good, but they are not, by a long shot, the full solution, because they are subject to IRS tyranny. Volunteer groups still have their constitutional rights intact and can say what they want, without fearing an IRS investigation, even be it that Obama is a traitor and should be removed from office.
Images of protests should be publicized as much as possible and not hidden away in closed Facebook groups. Either we are going to be intimidated or the Obama followers are going to be intimidated by us. But we will not put them on the run by hiding out. So far, only a relatively few patriots have been willing to show their faces in public to demand that Obama be removed from office for his treasonous activities.
Protests do not have to be overpass protests. They can also be street protests or protests at special events, such as a local Obama visit. Wherever Obama shows up, hundreds of protesters for impeachment ought to greet him there. If you want to contribute, give to your local organizer to pay for signs and banners when needed.
As Tom Tancredo said a couple of days ago, Obama needs to be exposed and removed from office as a lesson to future would-be tyrants. It does not matter how late it comes. Come out of the useless Facebook chat rooms, finally, and do something in your hometown. Support a local impeach-Obama group or start one of your own. To organize a national movement, very many local groups across the country are necessary and to date, we have precious few local groups advocating Obama’s impeachment and removal.
If individual Americans are not willing to lift a finger and really have forgotten how to take the initiative, work with other like-minded people and do something for themselves, then we had better just hang it up and accept our fate as serfs, if not worse. The experiment in liberty will be over.
